Using Tectra
Now that you've set up your account, billing, integrations, and workflows, it's time to start using Tectra! Your AI teammate is available across multiple platforms, making it easy to get help wherever you're working.
Three Ways to Use Tectra
Tectra is designed to meet you where you work. You can interact with your AI teammate through:
- Web Interface: Chat directly through the Tectra dashboard
- Video Meetings: Add Tectra to Zoom calls for real-time assistance
- Slack: Mention Tectra in your Slack channels for instant help
Let's explore each method in detail.
1. Using Tectra Through the Web Interface
The web interface is perfect for focused interactions and managing your Tectra setup.
Starting a Conversation
- Locate the Chat Icon: Look for the purple circle with a speech bubble in the bottom right corner of any Tectra page
- Click to Open: Click the icon to open the chat interface
- Start Typing: Use the text field to ask questions or give commands
What You Can Do
- Ask Questions: Get information about your connected tools, data, or workflows
- Give Commands: Trigger workflows with natural language commands
- Get Help: Ask for assistance with using Tectra or troubleshooting issues
- Review Results: See detailed responses and follow-up actions

2. Adding Tectra to Video Meetings
Tectra can join your Zoom meetings to provide real-time assistance, take notes, and execute workflows during calls.
Initial Setup (One-Time)
Before you can add Tectra to meetings, you need to authorize with Zoom:
- Navigate to Meetings: Go to https://app.tectra.ai/manager/meetings
- Authorize with Zoom: Click the authorization button when prompted
- Complete OAuth: Follow the Zoom authorization process
- This allows Tectra to recognize you in calls
- Tectra will only join meetings you explicitly invite it to
Adding Tectra to a Meeting
You have two options for adding Tectra to meetings:
Option A: Add to Existing Meeting
- Click "Add Meeting" in the top right corner
- Add Title: Give your meeting a descriptive name
- Add Zoom URL: Paste the Zoom meeting link
- Add Notes (Optional): Include any context or special instructions
- Additional Options (Optional): Configure any extra settings
- Choose your action:
- "Create": Save the meeting for joining later
- "Create & Join": Save and immediately add Tectra to the call
Option B: Schedule for Later
- Save the meeting details using the "Create" option
- When you're ready, find the meeting in your list
- Click "Join" to add Tectra to the active call
Interacting with Tectra in Meetings
Once Tectra has joined your meeting, you have several ways to interact:
Voice Commands
- Activation Phrase: Say "Hey, Tectra" to get its attention
- Ask Questions: "Hey Tectra, what's the status of the Johnson project?"
- Give Commands: "Hey Tectra, create a follow-up task for this discussion"
- Request Information: "Hey Tectra, show me the latest sales numbers"
Chat Messages
- Public Chat: Type in the meeting chat to interact publicly
- Direct Messages: Send a private DM to Tectra for confidential requests
Private vs. Public Interactions
- Voice commands with "Hey Tectra": Public - everyone can hear
- Direct messages: Private - only you see the conversation and responses
- Meeting chat mentions: Public - everyone can see the interaction

3. Using Tectra in Slack
Slack integration makes Tectra available wherever your team communicates.
Setting Up Slack Integration
Initial Connection
- Navigate to Slack Settings: Go to https://app.tectra.ai/manager/slack
- Connect Slack: Click the "Connect Slack" button in the top right
- Authorize via Popup: Click "Connect via Popup" button
- Complete Authorization: Follow the Slack authorization process in the popup
- Confirm Success: You'll receive a success message and the UI will update
Adding Tectra to Channels
- Close Success Modal: Close the authorization success message
- Add Channels: Click the "Add Channel" button
- Search for Channels: Use the search function to find channels
- Select Channels: Check the boxes for channels where you want Tectra
- Confirm: Click "Add x Channels" to complete the setup
Using Tectra in Slack
Basic Interaction
- Mention Tectra: Type
@Tectrafollowed by your question or command - Natural Language: Speak to Tectra as you would a team member
- Commands: Trigger workflows with conversational commands

Tectra Isn't Responding
